Friends, Family, Fun Day-16x9.jpg

The purpose of this event is for your family and friends to come and get to know church family better through food, hanging out, basketball, volleyball, open gym. A good avenue if you have kids to talk to Bartola and youth to talk to Nate, to get connected to other events coming up.

The Journey's goal is to have 50 members attend and 20 new and returning guests for a total of 70 people attending the Friends and Family Fun Day. The Journey staff and ushers will give you invite cards Sunday, November 19 and 26, and you can use this page and Facebook to tell your friends.

A time for people to show off their church, why they come here, maybe they haven't felt comfortable to invite to worship but we'll hang out with food and open gym. Bring a friend fun day. Our church is going to have fun.

The dates and times are listed on this event page, but here are more details about how the day will roll. We'll have Bible studies (9:30 am) and worship (10:45 am) as we always do Sundays, then after worship, we will open the gym until 2:30 pm to play volleyball and basketball. At the same time, there will be food set up in a room that is called "The Coffee Bar."

Food and Open Gym will be concurrent. There is no formal food or gym time. After worship till 2:30 will be food, fellowship, and open gym.

After our worship, walk down either (North or South) long hallway of Wright Christian Academy and you will get to the gymnasium. As you walk West down the South hall, you will come to the Coffee Bar where we will have food set up.

There are many ways you can serve for this event. The event coordinator is our Youth Minister, Nate Donley. Any church staff member can answer questions, and you can email with those questions or to volunteer to help.

Below are some detailed ways you can serve on teams to accomplish the success of this event, which is to have a fun fellowship where we can invite friends and family to get to know The Journey in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

  • SET UP - The JYG (Journey Youth Group) is setting up the gym and tables, and you can volunteer for this with
  • POTLUCK - Everyone is invited to bring very simple foods, nothing fancy but bring a lot of what you bring so there's enough for guests and about 70 people total.

Last name starts with A - L, bring two things: Bring sandwiches (simple PBJ, ham and cheese, etc.), chips.

Last name starts with M - Z, bring two things: Bring cookies, bottled water/tea/lemonade.

Plates and napkins provided and the bottled drinks will help contain messes. We plan to recycle the bottles at our Journey Outpost site.

Those serving during the potluck are asked to set up food in the Coffee Bar on the counters. People can come in and get food and sit in tables in that room. Please NO FOOD IN GYM, by orders of Wright Christian Academy. We do not want to mess up the gym floor.
