A SHOUT OUT to the parents, grandparents, guardians and volunteers for making this turnout a success. Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

2 Samuel 24:1-25: God give us ears to hear the Lord's forgiveness and salvation

The last story of Samuel is a tough one, but it shows the importance again of learning and listening to God’s leading in all of our lives. We let out a big Journey “Thank you, sir!” to Gary Holloway, who wrote more than fifty, yes fifty devotionals on 1 and 2 Samuel! I don’t know of another source where you can get fifty devotionals on these important books on the lives of the first kings of Israel than The Journey Bible Project Devotional blog. Tell your friends and ask them to sign up for the daily blog posts they can receive by email.

2 Samuel 22:1-51: Do you sing when God does big stuff in your life?

Today’s entry in The Journey Bible Project blog is pretty cool, because here David sings a song (2 Samuel 22:1-51) that is the same as Psalm 18. What do we do when we realize how much God has done for us? David sings and calls others to sing with him!

2 Samuel 21:1-22: Does our sin harm future generations?

In 2 Samuel 21:1-22 we see another example of the truth of Nathan’s prophecy over David’s sin, the consequences of David’s and Israel’s sins that David and the next generations must endure.

2 Samuel 19:9-43: Make us merciful to those who harm us

David has done such a good job of capturing the hearts and minds of even his former enemies, that soon the men of Israel are arguing with the men of Judah over who is more loyal to David. Today’s Journey Bible Project blog calls us to become merciful to those who wish to harm us.

2 Samuel 16:15-17:29: Who are you listening to?

The Journey Bible Project is based on listening four years to the voice of God, not the competing voices of our culture and politics and social media today. Are you listening to the wise, loving voices or the foolish, hateful voices in our culture today?

2 Samuel 16:1-14: What does David do when a critic throws dirt?

What do you do when critics throw dirt at you? Do you react? How did David respond when a critic threw dirt and curses at him?

2 Samuel 15:1-37: Politicians are nothing new!

Politicians antics are nothing new. Absalom does some things to gain favor with people and undercut his own father for political gain.

2 Samuel 13:1-39: Consequences of sin in David's house

While David is forgiven for the sins he commits, there are still consequences for sins in his house. In 2 Samuel 13:1-39, David’s sons take matters into their own hands when David fails to discipline his son for a terrible sin.

2 Samuel 12:11-31: "Loved by God"

God does not abandon David after his terrible sins. David confesses but there are still grave consequences for his sin. But God is faithful and a son is later born who David calls, “Loved by God.”

Luke 1:39-80: Magnificat of Mary and Canticle of Zechariah

Listen to two songs born out of the hope of Israel after long years of silence. Read about what have come to be known as “Canticle of Zechariah” and Mary’s song titled elegantly and simply, “Magnificat.” Learn today what Magnificat means, the background, and how important these two songs are to the life of Israel and the Messiah coming to save.

2 Samuel 12:1-10: How do you respond to being confronted?

Have you ever been confronted by someone for a sin you’d committed? How did you respond. Today we look at David’s response to being confronted for grievous sins (2 Samuel 12:1-10).

Luke 2: Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Listen to two songs born out of the hope of Israel after long years of silence. Read about what have come to be known as “Canticle of Zechariah” and Mary’s song titled elegantly and simply, “Magnificat.” Learn today what Magnificat means, the background, and how important these two songs are to the life of Israel and the Messiah coming to save.
