THE JYG IS UP: Goodbye Summer!

The sun has finally set on summer.

With the end of summer, a new school year approaches and our JYG kids are ready to tackle new challenges.

SLEW took over the Outpost this past Sunday night! We heard a wonderful message from Karissa Kostelnick about following your faith like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego did when they weren't totally sure of the outcome of going into a burning furnace to stand against bowing and worshiping an idol. What they discovered was they weren't alone. God was with them and is with us even when we have to follow our faith blindly.

Karissa played a major part in the creation of SLEW and we are so thankful for all she has done and left JYG with. Karissa will be attending Southern Nazarene University this Fall.

We also had the joy to see Kayle Collins play the cajon during our worship set. Kayle will be attending TCC this Fall. We're really going to miss Kayle's courage and friendship in JYG. We love you and the Journey Young Adults are getting a great addition to their class.

Lastly, we "fired" (not really) according to Kat Henson and Dom Josserand our summer intern Michelle Ohlert. Michelle came in unsure of what to really expect and was challenged with late nights and long hours at camps and random hangout times. Welcome to Youth Ministry. Michelle developed relationships with our teens, volunteers and staff. We pray that Michelle continues to seek out opportunities to serve and lead in the Church she attends back home in San Antonio.

This Summer was long, tough, hot, but so incredibly rewarding. Our teens took Next Steps in their faith, their relationships with God and each other, and served willing and unselfishly throughout the summer. Now as we head into school and the Fall, stay up to date with The JYG is Up, here on The Journey website for all Fall activities and stories about what is happening in the Journey Youth Group!

See you at the next JYG event!
