JOSHUA 11-12: AND THE LAND HAD REST FROM WAR
And the land had rest from war (Joshua 11:23).
I'm relieved to read the final sentence of Joshua 11. How about you?
We read of more battles in Joshua 11-12, but in the coming chapters we read of the land divisions among the tribes of Israel for their inheritance. This is important because it fulfills the promise of God that Abraham's descendants would inherit the land.
I'm resting today, how about you? What battles have you been waging that you need to rest from and trust in the LORD to fight for you?
Dear LORD, some of us in the United States are weary from new rounds of infighting and societal arguments. Would you give our land rest, or at least help us who are your people internally rest so we can pay more attention to the Kingdom of God within us? Help readers of this blog to discover that this Bible Project moves us toward paying attention to You, and not this world's leaders or ourselves. Amen.
