Dear JYG Parents,
I would like to inform you about the vision and mission I have for you and your students.
Here at The Journey, we want the whole family to be in service and Bible study together. That is the biological family and the church family.
Students are leaving the church at a higher rate and younger age than ever before. This keeps me up at night!I have been reading and in prayer on how to change that trend. Your students are very important to The Journey, and that is why we are going to be changing the way our Youth program runs.
My job as a youth minister is to walk alongside the family and help parents in their students’ walk with Christ. We also have a lot of members that love the students and would walk alongside you as well.
So we are beginning the process of creating an environment where parents do not feel alone in the building of the foundation of Jesus in their children’s lives. I will be providing parents with regular discussion material on what the youth group studies on Sunday mornings.
The events we have every week will be changing. We will no longer have Wednesday night youth group every week. Instead we will host JYG Family events like Contact Kids Night and Night Light. I ask that you bring your students to these events and serve alongside your student.
We will also have youth group events like game nights, movie nights, going bowling, and events that create opportunities for our students to invite their friends. These are more for just the youth group to hangout.
I hope the beginning of this process of JYG becoming more family based and our whole congregation walking alongside you and your students is spiritually uplifting for your family. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me.
We hope this is beneficial and encouraging for you! Click on the image to start your 28 Days of Scriptures and Prayer.
