The following is for the Garnett Church of Christ members seeing an old building come down and seeing God do a new thing. Peter is quoting from two places in Isaiah (8:14; 28:16). Read and live this today. See you in our gathering.
May we be living stones built into the spiritual house with Jesus Christ as the living cornerstone.
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. (1 Peter 2:1-2)
As you do your taxes this year, consider how you are wasting money and how in 2016 you can give that waste to the poor. As one writer said, "The clothes mildewing in your closet belong to the poor." In recent years, I realized I enjoy a lush lawn, but I don't have to pay someone to treat it. That costs a lot of money. I may not have a lawn as lush as I want, but I can save possibly hundreds of dollars of wasted fertilizer (and gas to mow when it grows more!) and look for ways to give that money away instead.
